The special Halloween Edition Domain Industry Social from October 30rd, 2020. In the first of two videos of this episode, we talk about some scary and strange domain stories, we hold a few fun creepy auctions, we talk about Prince.com; then there’s a pretty interesting discussion on domain taxation, intellectual property rules and if domains can be considered intangible assets or not. All in a fun and festive Halloween themed environment.

WARNING for later in part 2: We go fairly off-topic as we discuss the costumes and don’t talk too much about domains (although we do a bit). So if you want serious domain discussions, you might want to consider skipping to the next episode! 😉

The Domain Industry Social for October 23rd, 2020. In part 1 of this session of The Domain Social, we talk about payments including the risks of using PayPal and potential alternatives; Afternic payments and transfers; the Dan and Bodis integration; the importance of landing pages and if parking pages potentially hurt your sales chances; Parklogic; listing your domains at multiple marketplaces; portfolio management; and domain ownership verification.

Then in part 2, we revisit a things from part 1, then we also talk about what types of domains are in demand because of Covid-19; we talk about the expired domain auction process at GoDaddy; about cognitive and A.I. domains; about expired auctions at GoDaddy and Dynadot; we also continue the discussion on privacy; we also talk about a the potential of a few domains, including a seemingly SEO domain.

The Domain Social for October 16th, 2020. In this session of The Domain Social, we talk about the ICA (InternetCommerce.org); about trademarks; about Estibot and Namebio; Uniregistry and it’s integration into GoDaddy; bugs; domain syndication with Afternic; the value of a few domains; cannabis and vape domains; deliberate domain misspells like replacing S with Z; .tv; REITs; landing pages; Dan; some of our longest domains; portfolio sales; Flippa; and payment plans.

The end was cut a little short, as the last few minutes of the recording the names of a few domainers (not in attendance) private sales were mentioned, so that short bit was removed for privacy reasons.

The Domain Industry Social for October 9th, 2020. In this episode of The Domain Social, we talk about the rumours of portfolio size being potentially a factor in future UDRP decisions; about the importance of domainers participating within ICANN and joining the ICA (InternetCommerce.org); about selling and renting domains via payment plans; we review a few domains; we discuss privacy and RDAP; we explore potential replies to incoming offers as well as how to reply to low ball offers; as well as touch on the legitimacy of WhoIs and traffic statistics provided by some domain registrars; then we obviously talk about a bunch of domains including mask and medical related domains.

Here’s the Domain Social for October 2nd, 2020 (Parts 1 and 2). In this session we talk about email privacy issues due to WhoIs, the new RDAP and GDRP; how end-user buyers find you; .co; sales closing tactics; payment plans; ngTLDs; .ca and ccTLDs; email bleed; outbound and UDPR risks; and sales tactics.

Then in Part 2 we discuss Geo domains and what kind of domains are good for some of the many strategies available to domain investors, including wholesaling, as well as the difficulties in trying to scale your domain business. The Domain Industry Social for September 18th 2020 (Part 1 and 2). In Part 1 of this session we discuss a 4-figure sale to one of the biggest tech companies in the world; we talk about email bleed and how end users react when you approach them with a domain getting emails intended for them; we talk domain sales psychology and the $30 millions Voice.com sale; and even talk a bit about outbound sales. Then in Part 2 we discuss Afternic fast-transfers, domain privacy, buyers who don’t pay, fake buyers and a successful domainer consults with the group about a potential 5-figure sale.

The Domain Industry Social for September 11th 2020 was a little too crazy with language and behaviour not appropriate for YouTube. So as a placeholder I just made a quick update and invitation to join the socials. This episode was originally not supposed to take place, but we decided to go ahead last minute. It turned out to be one of the greatest sessions yet as we were joined by the biggest players and brokers in the industry where a wide range of topics were discussed. What made this episode legendary was a live bidding war over a domain where there was a $65,000 cash offer, an offer to exchange a very strong LLL.com domain, among others.
